Case Study: Suphol Chaichaiyapoom

Suphol Chaichaiyapoom, quality assurance for coffee purchased, Chachoengsao, Thailand

"I have been here for 25 years. When I started, it was at the old plant but then the new factory was built by an international company here in Chachoengsao," says Suphol Chaichaiyapoom.

Today, Suphol Chaichaiyapoom is responsible for ensuring that all the necessary procedures are followed to guarantee a high quality finished product.

"For me, an important thing about working at our factory is that I receive a lot in terms of social benefits. There is the canteen where I eat lunch and the company provides medical care. The company also offered me English and computer courses. It is a firm my colleagues and I are happy to work for.

"What I also like about working for this company is the fact that I know that the farmers who sell us their coffee receive a good price".

Suphol Chaichaiyapoom is married and has two children, a boy and a girl. "I think my family has the same view as me about the fact that I work at the Chachoengsao factory, though I have never asked them what they think about it."
